MAKING A GEDCOM.
Most genealogy software has an EXPORT function. Find it then export your tree as a GEDCOM.
If you are on Ancestry.com, you can download your tree as a GEDCOM by clicking on the FAMILY TREES button on the bar near the top of your Ancestry page, then find where THE FAMILY TREE YOU WANT is listed and click on MANAGE TREE under the tree titles. Next, find EXPORT TREE on the right side of the page and click it. Once Ancestry has finished preparing your GEDCOM, a green button titled DOWNLOAD GEDCOM FILE. Be sure to SAVE the GEDCOM, and don't open it. Pay attention to where it is saved. Now you can attach it to an email and send it to me.
If you use Family Tree Maker, you can find export by clicking on the word FILE in the upper left corner, then click EXPORT. Be sure to select the standard GEDCOM option when exporting.
