It's day 2
and we're off to the
THE GRAND CANYON
At 5:00 we got a wake up call and our feet hit the floor. At about 5:30 we headed down to the hotel's bus depot where we were picked up and taken to the central bus depot. We had coffee, juice and danishes then boarded our double decker touring buses and headed off for a Loooooong day. Thankfully the seats reclined and were very comfortable. During the trip we viewed videos about the Grand Canyon and "Running the Colorado River Rapids."
Our first stop was a scenic overlook of HOOVER DAM

We then continued on south on US 93 toward I-40. Along the way we passed some mountains that made me wish I were younger, fitter and still rock climbing. I took some pictures from the bus.

About an hour and a half after the dam we stopped for fuel and to stretch our legs, then we got on I-40 and headed east towards the Grand Canyon Exit at Williams, AZ. We then headed north towards the park and stopped at the National Geographich Center where we ate lunch and watched the I-Max Movie about the canyon. From there we drove the last 15 minutes to the park and on to the first of 2 hour-long viewing stops, this one at Mather Point. Here are the pictures took from thast spot on the South Rim.

It was really cold and we were glad we had brought some warmer coats. I think it was in the low 50s with a strong wind making it fell like the low 40s or 30s. There was still some snow on the ground. We then reboarded the bus and headed over to the BRIGHT ANGEL LODGE and lookout spot.
On to BRIGHT ANGEL Point and Lodge.
